A garden in Venice? Hard to find. Gardens in Giudecca were the rule instead, not the exception, until a few years ago. "I'm sick of all this water, I'm tired of pink and grey, of blue and of red. I thirst for dry land and green trees and shrubs and flowers: a garden. A garden! You know we have asked for one every where; there's no such thing in venice. If there were, what good! Does not the proverb speak of "Venezia, tomba dei fiori"?
